Dominic and Abby met in July of 2021 at Las Margs Mexican Tavern in Denver, Colorado.

Abby was finishing up her year of post-college, full-time volunteering with Urban Servant Corps. Dom was working at his friend's family restaurant as a waiter.

As Abby was living by the USC pillar of simplicity- she was learning how to live off a $75 stipend a month. Her and her friend Gabbie in the program did what any 20-somethings would do...they googled "cheapest margarita near me." The best option was Las Margs.

After some fun banter and a few margaritas, Abby left her number on the receipt for Dom.

He texted her minutes later...

Their lives quickly became intertwined, while spending a lot of time dating and getting to know each other.

On October 2nd of that same year, Dom asked Abby to be his girlfriend.

Throughout the several trips back to Minnesota and Abby's friends visiting Denver, Dom was able to get a peek inside her world. In between those moments, Abby was able to get to know and grow close to Dom's family and friends. They quickly fell head over heels for each other and spent the next 4 years dating. They moved into their first apartment together in Parker, CO in summer of 2023. The following summer they moved to Duluth, Minnesota to take on a new adventure and to take on their role of being an auntie and uncle.

During those dating years- they went on fun trips in the states together, spent many nights going out with friends, went to concerts, hiked a lot, went on ice cream dates, had countless movie nights, and had many many moments of making each other laugh.

On November 8th, 2026- Dom planned the ultimate surprise for Abby. A day of quality time up the North Shore, full of yummy eats and the perfect playlist, ended with a drive up to Palisade Head overlooking Lake Superior (one of the very first places Abby had taken Dom during his first trip to Minnesota). The most beautiful sunset and light snowfall set the perfect scene for Dom to get down on one knee. After heart stopping words and several yeses from Abby, the couple started planning for the day they say "I do."

Though in the grand scheme of life, this is just the beginning of their long love story, the couple is thankful it's their own.
